Since I was born in 1954 and decided a few years ago to learn to build guitars I decided to build a Strat as close to a ’54 as I could. The first year of the Stratocasters.Not much to really stress about building this “Strat”. I used “swamp” ash, not alder, as the originals were swamp ash. I found a Fender re-issue 1957 Buddy Guy maple neck at a local shop. I made the body from scratch, swamp ash is lightweight and not difficult to cut and shape.I bought a set of the Custom Shop 54 pickups and
