What is the difference between a grooved saddled bridge and one that isn’t? What are the ups and downs?
I have a Fender P-Bass, and I’m looking to upgrade the bridge with a Badass II from Leo Quan. I’m looking at All Parts and I see two chrome bridges, one Fender 010 6200 857 American ‘62 Telecaster Custom Guitar larger than the other. One happens to be more expensive. The only difference I can see is that the more expensive one has grooved saddles. http://www.allparts.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=BB-0337-010 and http://www.allparts.com/Badass-II-Bridge-p/bb-0335-010.htm are the two bridges in question. What is the difference between getting a grooved and not grooved saddle? Is there a benefit? Can you only get grooved on certain bass guitars? I have a Fender P-Bass with a Factory Bridge. Thanks!
