Having owned them all at one time or other, in my 47 years of guitar playing, the American Stratocaster is THE best guitar on the planet for the money. It is lighter than a Gibson Les Paul which is easier on the shoulder after those long sets. It’s classic design / looks are timeless. Out of the box it has it’s own distinct Fender sound as well. I have an ART 2000 which I ‘filter’ this guitar through and my sounds are limitless. I notice that another reviewer says to ‘save money and get the MIM

The fenders are integral parts of a car. They are contoured in such a way that they flow along the shape of the wheel compartment. Fenders are basically designed for wheel protection. They serve as a sturdy base for the wheels of the car. One can only imagine what will happen to a car driven through rocky terrains without fenders. At the very least, the result would certainly be unsightly. There’s a good chance that the wheels would end up encountering a great deal of road debris. While this is a common result of road travel, rocky terrains often have road debris that is tough and difficult to get rid of, more so than what is normally found in streets and highways. Without fender flares, the car’s wheels get the full brunt of contact with these elements. This does not exactly make for an ideal situation. Imagine a wheel striking a tiny pebble which consequently Fender(R) 010-1602-731 American Deluxe Telecaster(R) Electric Guitar hits the wheel right back. Because the pebble was propelled into motion by a fast-moving object—which is the car, in this case—it’ll hit the wheel at a rapid velocity as well.

Thus, even if one’s wheels happen to be sturdy, a considerable number of encounters of this sort will be all it takes before the wheel ends up being driven to the ground. When they finally crash, inanimate objects propelled at a rapid velocity—even those as small and seemingly insignificant as pebbles—inevitably invite heavy impact, which in turn, leads to possible wheel impairment.

Thus, one common way to improve wheel protection is to install some fender flares. These devices upgrade wheel safety of any car. Fender flares are commonly found in bigger vehicles like trucks and SUVs. But with normal sedans or coupes, fender flares work, too. Fender skirts are also another way for car owners to step up on their wheel protection. These “skirts” are critically crafted exteriors which seal the little space between the fender and the wheels. One does not have to worry about friction woes either since these skirts are meticulously designed in such a way that the wheels will not rub against them. It is often recommended that fender skirts be installed in car models that need no air going through the car’s body. This is because air can reduce speed. In the end, installing fender flares is not all about jazzing up a car’s appearance. It also brings wheel protection and performance to another level.

And what kind of saddles r on this strat specifically? Does any1 have a link to where i could buy them or know how much it would cost to install and buy them also?Im thinking that if the jb sig strat is so close to a regular strat i could just install the little changes into mine instead of buying this expensive thing. But i need to be sure that these are the only changes that effect tone. Can any1 help me!?!?

Own it and played it many times. Been playing Strats over 40 years. Have 10 Strats including a MB. While the S1 gives a great boost for lead, the overall tone for the general guitar is moderate. Same for playability, no better than regular Strats, AM or MIM. Definitely Not any better than a $500 MIM Strat. It is indeed pretty, but playability and great Strat tone is what you are really after. The MIMs deliver the biggest bang for the buck best. Better to buy a MIM and save money. Note, there is no bad Fender Strat. Get one.

I got this with discounts for real cheap at Sam Ash. Unfortunately, this instrument is only worth what I paid for it. In fact, I’ve now been through two of these, and I’m quite unimpressed. The first one I got had a very nice body with good tone, but a severely warped and bowed neck. Squier replaced the whole bass warranty (they wouldn’t just replace the defective neck). As I feared, the new bass doesn’t have as nice a body, and the neck still sucks.

The first body was made of two pieces, nicely matched with the seam down the middle. Sadly, the replacement bass has its seam WAY off center, and the two pieces don’t match at all. Fugly!

The new neck is horribly bowed and has terrible buzzing above the 12th fret, so I have to raise the action unnecessarily high. Adjusting the truss rod is a scary ordeal. I’m afraid to adjust it too tight – the neck feels so flimsy. Every day I give it a turn to remove some of the bowing, and the next day the neck is bowed again.

If you don’t mind high action and some string buzz, this could be a nice cheap bass for you. I bought this because I needed THAT Fender tone for a recording project, and wasn’t getting it with my much more expensive Sting Ray 5. The Squier gets the tone alright, but it’s no sub for a real Fender Jazz Bass.
