Great book for guitarists who love Leo Kottke’s music. Well done and very accurate tabs. Stropes is always a good source for guitar tabs.
The Fender Stratocaster, more commonly referred to as the Strat is one of the most famous guitars. It has been played by many different musicians across the world who have had the wonderful opportunity to spread the good news of these high quality guitars. There have actually been several variations upon the original Fender Stratocaster. The original guitar was a two color sun burst finish that made it really shocking to look at. The body was made out of solid ash, something that did not last Leo Fender Vintage G&L Superhawk. Jerry Cantrell in their guitars. Fender eventually started to make their guitars out of solid alder wood that they would prove to stick with for some years to come.
While many of the newer Fender models may have improved on the sound quality and musical ability that the guitar can handle, the vintage Fender Stratocaster guitars still fetch a pretty penny. One of the many nice features that they had was that they could be made with a custom color of paint. This was an extra fee, but allowed for even more personalization of the guitar.
There were many famous musicians who used a Fender Stratocaster, one of the most famous was Buddy Holly. He used them almost exclusively, George Harrison and Paul McCartney from the Beatles also used Fender Stratocaster guitars, but after CBS had taken over the company. This made a significant difference in the design of the guitar, as rosewood fretboards were no longer the main idea. Instead, less durable and more affordable materials were used to cut corners and save money.
Hi!I’ve never heard of this brand(G & L),this guitar factory, until I saw some of their instruments at a music shop. So,the clerk told me that the name stands for George Fullerton and Leo Fender. I looked it up on the net, and, really. When Leo Fender sold his company (Fender) to CBS,he made this one, and, boy,I can tell you that their instruments look like Telecasters Leo Fender Vintage G&L Superhawk. Jerry Cantrell and Stratocasters, but have some improvements, ans really sound a lot better then today’s Fender instruments. In fact,if you really think about it, they are even more legit, since they are made by Leo Fender, and Fender instruments have nothing to do with him anymore.OK,he died in 1991, but G & L is his final legacy. So,I went and bought myself a G & L ASAT CLASSIC (telecaster shaped),and it sounds way better then all the tele’s I’ve had before(wich were Fenders), and it also costs more. A telecaster(Fender) standard costs cca.1200$, and this one cost me arond 1500$. I just wonder, and this is in fact my question- the only famous guitarists that play G & L are J. Cantrell (Alice in Chains),Will Ray,and the guys from INXS. So, how come those other musicians who can get what they want don’t have these babes, which are far better than any Fender(xcpt those from the 50′s and 60′s)
